We gaan iets bijzonders en avontuurlijks doen.

Dit jaar wordt de W3 Zomertocht een tweedaags roeiweekend. Te houden op zaterdag 12 en zondag 13 juli 2025.

Waar gaan we heen?
Op dag 1 roeien we 35km van Willem 3 via de Amstel, Uithoorn, Mijdrecht, Wilnis en Vinkeveen naar het ‘Huisje van Frans’ aan de Vinkeveense Noordplas, waar we gaan ontspannen, misschien wel zwemmen, wandelen, of wat je maar leuk vindt. En natuurlijk lekker eten en overnachten.

Op dag 2 gaan we vanaf het ‘Huisje van Frans’ in 25km langs de Voetangel, Abcoude en via het Gein en de Gaasp weer terug naar Willem 3. Het is mogelijk om de terugweg met 10km in te korten.

SAVE THE DATE: W3 Summer Tour, on July 12th and 13th, 2025

We’re going to do something special and adventurous.

This year, the W3 Summer Tour will be a two-day rowing weekend. To be held on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July 2025.

Where are we going?
On day 1, we will row 35 km from Willem 3 via the Amstel, Uithoorn, Mijdrecht, Wilnis and Vinkeveen to the ‘Huisje van Frans’ at the Vinkeveense Noordplas, where we will relax, perhaps swim, walk, or whatever you like. And of course have a nice meal and spend the night.

On day 2, we will go from the ‘Huisje van Frans’ in 25 km along the Voetangel, Abcoude and via the Gein and the Gaasp back to Willem 3. It is possible to shorten the return journey by 10 km.

Sail Amsterdam 2025 komt er aan en het is een goede traditie dat de gezamenlijke roeiverenigingen tijdens Sail een Roeierssaluut brengen. Dat gebeurt dit keer op vrijdag 22 augustus om 9 uur.

Er mag maar een beperkt aantal boten meedoen. Wij mogen maximaal 5 boten inschrijven. Dat betekent dat er 25 Willem III-ers mee kunnen in 5 C4*-boten. In overleg met het W3 bestuur is besloten prioriteit te geven aan mensen die zich als vrijwilliger voor onze vereniging inzetten.

Aanmelden:
Wil je meedoen? meld je uiterlijk 27 april individueel aan op toercommissie@willem3.nl ovv ‘Sail 2025’ en vermeld wat jouw vrijwilligersrol is bij onze club.
De kosten zijn € 15 per deelnemer.

Hoe gaat het verder?:
We verwachten meer aanmeldingen dan beschikbare plaatsen en zullen in dat geval loten onder de aanmeldingen (om deze reden kan er niet als ploeg worden aangemeld). Iedereen krijgt natuurlijk bericht over de uitkomst, of je bent ingeloot of niet, waarbij de gelukkigen nog nadere informatie en betaling wordt gevraagd.

Invitation: Rowers’ Salute Sail Amsterdam, August 22, 2025

Sail Amsterdam 2025 is coming up and it is a good tradition that the joint rowing clubs bring a Rowers Salute during Sail. This time, this will take place on Friday August 22nd at 9 am.

Only a limited number of boats are allowed to participate. We are allowed to register a maximum of 5 boats. This means that 25 Willem III members can participate in 5 C4* boats. In consultation with the W3 board, it has been decided to give priority to people who volunteer for our association.

Registration:
Would you like to participate? Register individually at toercommissie@willem3.nl no later than April 27th, stating ‘Sail 2025’ and state what your volunteer role is at our club.
The costs are € 15 per participant.

What happens next?:
We expect more registrations than available places and in that case we will draw lots among the registrations (for this reason, it is not possible to register as a team). Everyone will of course be notified of the outcome, whether you have been drawn or not, and the lucky ones will be asked for further information and payment.

I joined the new members tour last Sunday, and it was a blast! Technically, I’ve been a member for seven months, but hey, I’m still “new” enough to enjoy cruising through Amsterdam’s canals on a sunny day. 🙂

The route was especially lovely, passing ARTIS Zoo where we slowed down to spot some animals and -surprise- a zebra was on sight! Rowing across the Amstel and through the city’s iconic grachts made me feel like I was seeing Amsterdam with fresh eyes.

What makes this tour extra special is the chance to connect with others over casual chats. If you’re lucky, you even get to be the “princess passenger” sitting next to the stuur in a wherry! 😉 Our crew (Ilse, Cees, me, with our ever-encouraging captain Agnes) was such a fun bunch.

Back at the club, we were welcomed with Arthur’s snacks and drinks on the terrace, where everyone gathered to enjoy the weather and mingle. Everything was, as always, beautifully organized with rowers’ safety and joy in mind.

Big thanks to the tour committee—and especially Els and Maaike—who appeared at every tricky bridge or corner, guiding us through and capturing the fun along the way!

Op zondag 11 mei 2025 organiseert de Toercommissie de W3 Lentetocht. We roeien ±29km door het landelijk gebied ten zuiden van Amsterdam, langs het Gein, Abcoude en Ouderkerk.

Deze prachtige tocht is geschikt voor alle roeiers vanaf klasse 1 met een redelijke conditie. Ga je mee? We verzamelen om 9.00 uur. Je bent tot halverwege de middag onderweg.

Route
De Geintocht gaat vanaf Willem 3 via de Amstel, de Weespertrekvaart en de Gaasp naar het Gein. In Abcoude is er een pauze. Daarna roeien we via de Angstel, het Abcoudermeer, de Holendrecht, de Bullewijk en de Amstel weer terug naar Willem 3.

Vereisten
Je moet bekend zijn met de commando’s ‘slippen’ en ‘doorvallen’ en deze goed kunnen uitvoeren.
En je moet in staat zijn om zelfstandig in- en uit de boot te stappen bij lastige oevers.

On Sunday May 11th 2025, the Tour Committee is organising the W3 Lentetocht. We will row ±29km through the countryside south of Amsterdam, along the Gein, Abcoude and Ouderkerk.

This beautiful trip is suitable for all rowers from class 1 with a reasonable condition. Will you join us? We gather at 9:00 am. You will be on your way until mid-afternoon.

Registration
Register yourself or your team by May 6th at the latest via toercommissie@willem3.nl, stating ‘Lentetocht 2025’. Plus:
(a) your name
(b) your mobile number
(c) your achieved rowing class
(d) your preference for a wherry or Cx+ boat, if applicable.
When registering as a team, please provide the names, contact details (email and mobile) and rowing class for all participants.
After registration, you will receive a confirmation email.

Costs
Participation costs €15.00 per person, including a welcome drink at Willem 3 and a drink in Abcoude. For participants from other rowing clubs who want to use a Willem 3 boat, there is an additional €10.00 per person.

Please transfer the amount to account NL75 RABO 0106 6517 57 in the name of R.V. Willem 3, stating your name or the name of your team if you are paying for the entire team. And stating ‘Lentetocht 2025’.

Route
The Geintocht goes from Willem 3 via the Amstel, the Weespertrekvaart and the Gaasp to the Gein. There is a break in Abcoude. Then we row via the Angstel, the Abcoudermeer, the Holendrecht, the Bullewijk and the Amstel back to Willem 3.

Requirements
You must be familiar with the commands ‘slippen’ and ‘doorvallen’ and be able to execute them well.
And you must be able to get in and out of the boat independently at difficult banks.

Would you like to row regularly, but do you sometimes lack rowing buddies?
Register at KomtUmaar and form an active and fun group with the other rowers who enjoy going out together regularly.

Depending on your rowing level, you can participate in team rowing in a multi-person boat. And get to know fun rowing routes in and around the city.
Or you can go with fellow rowers on the River Amstel in a C1x or skiff.

Hebben jullie ook alweer zo’n zin in het toerseizoen? De Willem 3 Toercommissie heeft voor 2025 een gevarieerd programma met veel mooie tochten samengesteld.

Zondag 13 april Nieuwe-ledentocht
Een middag stadstocht van plm 12 km voor onze nieuwe leden, op persoonlijke uitnodiging.
Een mooie gelegenheid om de stad te ontdekken vanaf het water en andere W3-leden te leren kennen. Na afloop: gezelligheid en hapjes in onze Sociëteit.

Zondag 11 mei Lentetocht
Deze prachtige tocht van ongeveer 30 km in en/of rond Amsterdam is geschikt voor alle roeiers met een redelijke conditie vanaf niveau klasse 1. Je bent tot halverwege de middag onderweg. Na afloop gezellig samen iets drinken bij Willem 3.

Zaterdag 28 juni Kortste Nacht tocht
Avond/nachttocht van 29 km rondom de Ronde Hoep Polder, georganiseerd door de Amsterdamse Roeiverenigingen. Halverwege de route is er een picknick. Je ziet de zon ondergaan vanaf de Waver. In het donker terug over de Amstel langs Nes en Ouderkerk. Nazit met soep, broodjes en gezelligheid.

Zaterdag en zondag 12 en 13 juli Zomertocht
Een tweedaags avontuurlijk roeiweekend door het landelijke gebied ten zuiden van Amsterdam. Aan het einde van dag 1 heb je de mogelijkheid om lekker te ontspannen, bij voorbeeld met wandelen of zwemmen. Naar keuze zelf kokkerellen of lekker gaan eten in een restaurantje. Er zijn twee schutsluizen op de route en een overnachting met uitzicht op de Vinkeveense plassen.

Zondag 31 augustus Magnum
Prestatietocht i.s.m. de KNRB. Deze prachtige tocht van 58 km gaat over de Gaasp, de Vecht, de Angstel en de Amstel en heeft twee keer een begeleide oversteek van het Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal.
We verzamelen om 8.00 uur. De meeste ploegen zijn de hele dag onderweg. Je kunt KNRB Marathonpunten verdienen. Geschikt voor geoefende ploegroeiers.

Zaterdag 27 september Lichtjestocht
Einde middag, begin avond. Deze afwisselende stadstocht van ongeveer 16 km is populair bij veel roeiverenigingen van buiten Amsterdam die zich vaak massaal aanmelden. De deelnemers vrolijken hun boot en/of zichzelf zo mooi mogelijk op met lampjes (zelf meenemen). Na afloop zijn er hapjes in
onze Sociëteit en is er een prijsuitreiking voor de mooist versierde boot.

Zondag 5 oktober KYC tocht
Know Your City! Deze stadstocht voert je gedurende de middag langs verschillende toeristische hoogtepunten in Amsterdam. De tocht is speciaal bedoeld om niet-Nederlandstalige en Nederlandstalige W3-ers de kans te geven om elkaar te ontmoeten en ondertussen van onze stad te genieten vanaf het water. Nazit met een eenvoudige maaltijd in de W3 Sociëteit.

Zaterdag 9 november Snerttocht
We roeien een late middagtocht van ongeveer 16 km door Amsterdam in avondsfeer. Ook voor deze tocht decoreren de deelnemers hun boot en/of zichzelf met lichtjes (zelf meenemen) en is er een prijs te winnen voor de mooist versierde combinatie. Halverwege is er een verrassing en na afloop is er de beroemde zelfgemaakte snert (vlees of vega) in onze Sociëteit.

Zondag 7 en/of 14 december Amsterdam Light Festival
Afhankelijk van de mogelijkheden organiseren we één of twee avond tochten langs de kunstwerken van het Amsterdam Light Festival. Uitsluitend voor leden van Willem 3.

Zondag 4 januari Nieuwjaarstocht 2026
Een goed begin van het nieuwe jaar! Eerst lekker samen genieten op het water tijdens een korte stadstocht. Na afloop gezellig borrelen bij de Nieuwjaarsreceptie.

Ongeveer een maand voorafgaand aan de tocht plaatsen we de postertjes en de flyertjes bij Willem 3 en wordt nadere informatie over de route, de inschrijving en de kosten gepubliceerd op de onze website.

Sunday April 13 New members tour
An afternoon city tour of approximately 12 km for our new members, by personal invitation.
A great opportunity to discover the city from the water and get to know other W3 members. Afterwards: fun and snacks in our Bar.

Sunday May 11 Lentetocht
This beautiful tour of approximately 30 km in and/or around Amsterdam is suitable for all rowers with a reasonable fitness level from class 1. You will be on the road until mid-afternoon. Afterwards, have a nice drink together at Willem 3.

Saturday June 28 Kortste Nacht Tocht
Evening/night tour of 29 km around the Ronde Hoep Polder, organized by the Amsterdam Rowing Clubs. There is a picnic halfway along the route. You can watch the sun set from your boat on the Waver River. In the dark back across the Amstel past Nes and Ouderkerk. Afterwards: soup, sandwiches and fun.

Saturday and Sunday July 12 and 13 Zomertocht
A two-day adventurous rowing weekend through the rural area south of Amsterdam. At the end of day 1 you will have the opportunity to relax, for example by walking or swimming. You can cook your own food or have a nice meal in a restaurant. There are two locks on the route and an overnight stay with a view of the Vinkeveense plassen.

Sunday August 31 Magnum
Marathon tour in collaboration with the KNRB. This beautiful 58 km tour takes you over the Gaasp, the Vecht, the Angstel and the Amstel and includes two guided crossings of the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal.
We gather at 8 am. Most teams are on the water all day. You can earn KNRB Marathon points. Suitable for experienced team rowers.

Saturday, September 27 Lichtjestocht
End of afternoon, beginning of evening. This varied city tour of approximately 16 km is popular with many rowing clubs from outside Amsterdam, which often register en masse. The participants brighten up their boat and/or themselves as beautifully as possible with lights (bring your own). There will be snacks afterwards in our Bar and there will be an award ceremony for the most beautifully decorated boat.

Sunday October 5 KYC tocht
Know Your City! This city tour takes you past various tourist highlights in Amsterdam during the afternoon. The tour is specially designed to give non-Dutch-speaking and Dutch-speaking W3-ers the opportunity to meet each other and enjoy our city from the water. Afterwards: simple meal in the W3 Bar.

Saturday November 9 Snerttocht
We row a late afternoon tour of approximately 16 km through Amsterdam in the evening atmosphere. For this trip too, participants decorate their boat and/or themselves with lights (bring your own) and there is a prize to be won for the most beautifully decorated combination. There is a surprise halfway through and afterwards there is the famous homemade ‘Snert’ (pea soup, meat or vegetarian) in our Bar.

Sunday December 7 and/or 14 Amsterdam Light Festival
Depending on the possibilities, we organize one or two evening tours along the works of art of the Amsterdam Light Festival. Only for members of Willem 3.

Sunday January 4 New Year’s Tour 2026
A good start to the new year! First enjoy rowing together during a short city tour. Afterwards, enjoy a nice drink at the New Year’s reception.

About a month prior to the tour, we will place the posters and flyers at Willem 3 and further information about registration and costs will be published on our website.

Op 8 december vertrokken wij met 10 boten vanaf Willem 3 naar de verlichte binnenstad. Vooraf hadden wij de nodige stress of wij wel 15 kilometer konden roeien in het donker met de harde wind. En of het tijdig slippen onder de vele bruggen wel zou lukken! Het eerste donkere stuk over de Amstel hadden sommige roeiers hun boten prachtig verlicht alsof zij ook al onderdeel waren van het licht festival, terwijl andere boten minimaal verlicht waren als onderzeeboten om niet te veel de aandacht te trekken.

Vanaf de Amstel genoten wij van de romantiek van onze mooi verlichte stad. Vanuit de roeiboten leek de stad een soort verlichte poppenkast: verlichte deuren en ramen van al die prachtige grachtenpanden met schitterende kerstversieringen. Onderweg passeerden wij mooi verlichte kunstwerken: van kleurrijke monden, tot verspringende vogels en abstracte kunstwerken. Ook een aantal kanovaarders sloot zich aan bij ons konvooi. Als een grote kolonne roeiden wij langs de objecten, van light peddle tot spoelhaal naar normale haal.

Sommige boten begrepen niet helemaal het juiste tempo door de binnenstad en wilden er zelfs in de stad nog een wedstrijdje van maken. Gelukkig gaf de ‘Kopboot’ het juiste tempo aan en moesten de anderen zich hieraan houden. Eenmaal weer op de Amstel kon iedereen in eigen tempo terug roeien naar Willem 3 waar een heerlijke linzensoep met glühwein klaarstond.

Wij hebben heerlijk geroeid en waren zeer onder de indruk van de goede organisatie door onze roeivereniging. Chapeau!

Retrospective: W3 Amsterdam Light Festival, Sunday December 8, 2024

On December 8, we left with 10 boats from Willem 3 to the illuminated city center. Beforehand we had some stress about whether we would be able to row 15 kilometers in the dark with the strong wind. And whether it would be possible to slip under the many bridges in time! During the first dark part of the Amstel, some rowers had beautifully decorated their boats with lights as if they were already part of the light festival, while other boats were minimally lit like submarines so as not to attract too much attention.

From the Amstel we enjoyed the romance of our beautifully illuminated city. From the rowing boats, the city looked like a kind of illuminated puppet show: illuminated doors and windows of all those beautiful canal houses with beautiful Christmas decorations. Along the way we passed beautifully illuminated works of art: from colorful mouths to jumping birds and abstract works of art. A number of canoeists also joined our convoy. We rowed past the objects as a large column, from light paddle to bobbin stroke to normal stroke.

Some boats did not quite understand the right pace through the city center and even wanted to turn it into a competition in the city. Fortunately, the ‘Kopboot’ set the right pace and the others had to stick to it. Once back on the Amstel, everyone could row at their own pace to Willem 3 where a delicious lentil soup with mulled wine was ready.

We had a great time rowing and were very impressed by the good organization by our rowing club.

Op zondag 8 december 2024 organiseert de Toercommissie een roeitocht naar lichtkunstwerken van het Amsterdam Light Festival. We verzamelen om 18.00 uur. Ga je mee?

Aanmelden*:
Schrijf jezelf of je ploeg uiterlijk 4 december 2024 in via toercommissie@willem3.nl onder vermelding van ‘ALF december 2024’. Plus
(a) je naam (jullie namen),
(b) mobiele telefoonnummer(s),
(c) je/jullie afroei klasse(n),
(d) eventueel je voorkeur voor een wherry of Cx+-boot.

Bij aanmelding van een ploeg, ook ajb de mailadressen van je ploegleden doorgeven.
Na aanmelding ontvang je een bevestigingsmail.
De inschrijvingen worden in volgorde van binnenkomst verwerkt.

*Deze tocht staat uitsluitend open voor leden van Willem 3.

Kosten:
Meedoen kost € 15,- per persoon, inclusief een welkomst drankje bij Willem 3. En na afloop iets warms te eten en te drinken.

Het bedrag ajb overmaken op rekening NL75 RABO 0106 6517 57 t.n.v. R.V. Willem 3 ovv je naam of de naam van je ploeg als je voor de hele ploeg betaalt. En ovv ‘ALF december 2024’.

Route en roeiniveau:
Deze tocht van 15km langs de lichtkunstwerken, door Amsterdam in kerstsfeer, is geschikt voor geoefende (ploeg)roeiers vanaf klasse 1 en zij-instromers, die in staat zijn om 2 uur achter elkaar door te roeien.
Een bevoegde en geoefende captain per boot, die ervaring heeft met sturen in het donker, is verplicht!

Spelregels:
De organisatie van het Amsterdam Light Festival en de gemeente Amsterdam geven ons toestemming om op zondag 8 december 2024 in georganiseerd verenigingsverband en binnen bepaalde voorwaarden, met een beperkt aantal boten, deze tocht te roeien inclusief een deel van de Herengracht waar een spierkrachtverbod geldt.

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, the Tour Committee is organizing a rowing trip to light artworks from the Amsterdam Light Festival. We gather at 6:00 pm. Would you like to join us?

To register*:
Register yourself or your team no later than December 4, 2024 via toercommissie@willem3.nl, stating ‘ALF December 2024’. Plus

After registration you will receive a confirmation email.

*This tour is only open to members of Willem 3.

Costs:
Participating costs € 15 per person, including a welcome drink at Willem 3. And afterwards a small warm-up to eat and drink.

Route and rowing level:
This 15km tour along the light artworks, through Amsterdam in a Christmas atmosphere, is suitable for experienced (team) rowers with at least class 1 and lateral entrants who are able to row for 2 hours straight.
A qualified and trained captain per boat, who has experience steering in the dark, is mandatory!

Rules:
The organization of the Amsterdam Light Festival and the municipality of Amsterdam give us permission to row this tour on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in an organized club context and within certain conditions, with a limited number of boats, including a part of the Herengracht where a muscle strength ban applies.

Goed nieuws! We gaan ploeg roeien door Amsterdam in avondsfeer.

Alle Willem 3 leden met klasse 1 en hoger zijn welkom om mee te doen.

Wanneer: Elke dinsdag van 19.00 – 20.45 uur in november en december 2024.

We roeien in principe een avondtocht van anderhalf uur.

Wil je liever overdag roeien? De sessies op zondagochtend 11.00 uur zijn ook nog steeds beschikbaar.

Aan ‘Komt u maar’ roeiers met klasse 2 of hoger wordt gevraagd om af en toe als captain mee te gaan om het roeien mogelijk te maken voor deelnemers die nog niet zelfstandig op pad kunnen.

W3 ‘Come on’ team rowing in the evening atmosphere, winter 2024

Good news! We will be team rowing through Amsterdam in evening atmosphere.

All Willem 3 members with class 1 and higher are welcome to participate.

When: Every Tuesday from 7:00 pm – 8:45 pm, in November and December 2024. 

In principle we row an evening trip of one and a half hours.

Would you rather row during the day? The Sunday morning sessions at 11 am are also still available.

‘Come on’ rowers with class 2 or higher are asked to occasionally come along as captain to make rowing possible for participants who cannot yet travel independently.
