Dit jaar was onze ‘reserve Magnum route’ aan de beurt. Door de afsluiting van de sluis in Weesp was de vertrouwde route over de Vecht niet mogelijk.
De 31 deelnemende ploegen roeiden in plaats daarvan 55,5km over de Amstel, de Kromme Mijdrecht en via de Pondskoekersluis naar de Ringvaart Groot Mijdrecht. En vervolgens via de Geuzensloot, de Demmerikse Sluis naar de Angstel en via Abcoude en Ouderkerk weer terug naar Willem 3. Hieronder de verslagjes van twee debuterende marathon ploegen.

Zondag 23 augustus was een perfecte dag voor een toertocht, niet te warm en geen regen van betekenis voorspeld. Dat bleek ook wel, tussendoor was er zelfs af en toe een prettig zonnetje.

Nadat we regelmatig ‘getraind’ hadden met wekelijkse tochtjes van 1,5 tot 4 uur in zoveel mogelijk dezelfde ploeg samenstelling, stonden we op de dag zelf om 7:20 uur goed voorbereid en met hooggespannen verwachtingen op het vlot.

Onze start om 8:00uur lukte zoals gepland. En daar gingen we in de C4* Henley samen met 30 andere boten die vanaf Willem 3 startten na de captainsbriefing. De Toercommissie liet niets aan het toeval over, alles liep op rolletjes.

Wat biedt de omgeving van Amsterdam toch een prachtig roeiwater.
Met avontuurlijk slippen en doorvallen bij pittoreske bruggen. Voor alle stuurtjes een moment van uiterste concentratie en stuurkunst om het midden te houden, soms aangevuld met peddelvaardigheid bij smalle doorgangen. En dan het vullen van de twee sluizen …

Ons team was van plan om ongeveer om de 20 minuten te wisselen van stuur en roeipositie.
Behalve in Mijdrecht lukte ons dat volgens de aangegeven wissel- en aanmeer plaatsen.
De sluizen hielden ons wel op maar de gezelligheid bij het wachten maakte de dag een vrolijke happening. Bijna alle meegenomen extra energie proviand was er doorheen aan het eind van de tocht. We zijn 8 uur en 51 minuten onderweg geweest, inlcusief de wachttijd voor de sluizen en de lunchpauze. En de laatste 9 km wisten we er zelfs nog een sprint uit te persen! Volgend jaar zijn we graag weer van de partij!

De eersten zullen de laatsten zijn.

Dat we onze eerste Magnum allemaal prima hebben overleefd was dankzij onze gezelligheidstactiek: team Wilfried vertrok als allereerste rond 07:30, en ging direct na Ouderkerk aan de eerste koffie van onze cateraar met busje incl. keukentje, bij Nes al aan de tweede koffie. Een groot deel van de boten zagen we zo aan ons voorbijgaan. Heel gezellig gezwaaid.
Toen we bij de Pondskoekersluis na Uithoorn aankwamen, zagen we veel boten terug, was er ruim tijd om te kletsen en een broodje te eten. Vervolgens konden we met nieuwe energie wat boten inhalen en maakten bij Mijdrecht onze echte lunch-stop. Zo waren we weer laatste, maar vertrokken voldaan en met frisse billen en goede handen.

Tegen de tijd dat we bij de Demmerikse sluis waren, troffen we opnieuw veel hardroeiers. Zoals gepland maakten we wat extra stops in Baambrugge en Abcoude -we namen de tijd voor onze fans, hè- en lieten we alle boten weer voor. Zo kwamen we na een tocht van 11 uur fris bij Willem3 aan.

We waren trouwens ook de laatsten die van de zon op het W3-terras genoten. Met een toast van dank voor de organisatie. Volgend jaar weer!

This year it was the turn of our ‘back-up Magnum route’. Due to the closure of the lock at Weesp, the usual route along the Vecht was not possible.
Instead, the 31 participating teams rowed 55.5 km along the Amstel, the Kromme Mijdrecht and via the Pondskoekersluis to the Ringvaart Groot Mijdrecht. They then continued via the Geuzensloot and the Demmerikse Sluis to the Angstel, and via Abcoude and Ouderkerk back to Willem 3. Below are the reports from two debutant marathon teams.

Sunday 23 August was a perfect day for a tour: not too hot, with no significant rain forecast. That proved to be the case; there was even the occasional pleasant spell of sunshine.

Having ‘trained’ regularly with weekly outings lasting between 1.5 and 4 hours, keeping the crew as consistent as possible, we were on the raft at 7.20 am on the day itself, well prepared and with high hopes.

Our start at 8.00 am went according to plan. And off we went in the C4* Henley alongside 30 other boats that set off from Willem 3 after the captains’ briefing. The Tour Committee left nothing to chance; everything went like clockwork.

The area around Amsterdam really does offer some wonderful rowing waters.
With adventurous slippage and passing through picturesque bridges. For all coxswains, it was a moment requiring the utmost concentration and steering skill to stay on course, sometimes supplemented by paddling skill in narrow passages. And then there was navigating the two locks…

Our team planned to swap steering and rowing positions roughly every 20 minutes.
Apart from in Mijdrecht, we managed to do this according to the designated changeover and mooring points.
The locks did hold us up, but the convivial atmosphere whilst waiting made the day a cheerful occasion. Almost all the extra energy provisions we’d brought with us had been used up by the end of the trip. We were on the water for 8 hours and 51 minutes, including the waiting time for the locks and the lunch break. And we even managed to squeeze in a sprint over the last 9 km! We’d love to be there again next year

The first shall be the last.

The fact that we all survived our first Magnum just fine was down to our ‘cosiness’ tactic: Team Wilfried set off first at around 07:30, and stopped for our first coffee from our caterer – who had a van complete with a kitchenette – just past Ouderkerk, and for our second coffee at Nes. We watched a large number of the boats pass us by. We waved to them all in a very friendly manner.

When we arrived at the Pondskoekersluis lock past Uithoorn, we saw lots of boats again; there was plenty of time to have a chat and eat a sandwich. Then, with renewed energy, we managed to overtake a few boats and made our proper lunch stop at Mijdrecht. So we were last again, but set off feeling satisfied, with refreshed backsides and strong arms.

By the time we reached the Demmerikse lock, we came across lots of competitive rowers again. As planned, we made a few extra stops in Baambrugge and Abcoude – we took the time for our fans, after all – and let all the boats pass us again. So, after an 11-hour trip, we arrived at Willem3 feeling refreshed.

Incidentally, we were also the last to enjoy the sunshine on the W3 terrace, raising a toast to thank the organisers. See you again next year!

• Je team kan bestaan uit dames, heren of mix. (Mix team is minimaal 50% dames).
• Het gaat vooral om het plezier tijdens de voorbereidingen en bij de wedstrijden.
• Je neemt het op tegen teams uit de regio Amsterdam en omstreken.

Doe je ook mee? Het kan zomaar jouw opstap zijn naar grotere wedstrijden zoals Novembervieren, de Head of the River en de Heineken Roeivierkamp.

Target group: recreational rowers and beginners with at least an S1 qualification who would like to try their hand at competitive rowing.

What do you need to do?
• Form a team for your preferred boat type (C2x+, C4x+ or 4x+).
• Your team can consist of women, men or a mixed team. (A mixed team must consist of at least 50 per cent women).
• The main focus is on having fun during training and at the races.
• You’ll be competing against teams from the Amsterdam region and surrounding areas.

Fancy joining in? It could well be your stepping stone to bigger races such as the Novembervieren, the Head of the River and the Heineken Roeivierkamp.

Dertig kilometer, zes goals en een nacht die haast geen nacht was

De Kortste Nacht Tocht 2026 begon dit jaar eigenlijk met een tussenstand. Om 19.00 uur werd in Amsterdam afgetrapt voor Zweden – Nederland; om 20.00 uur vertrokken onze boten voor een tocht van 29 kilometer. Tegen die tijd had Brobbey al twee keer gescoord. Nederland op voorsprong, wij nog op de wal. En dat zegt misschien ook wel iets over deze groep: er was die avond een volkomen legitiem alternatief – binnen blijven voor voetbal – maar er zijn dus gewoon mensen opgestaan die dachten: leuk, die interland, wij gaan roeien.

Daarna liep het opvallend gelijk op. Op het veld werd de stand uitgebouwd; op het water de afstand. Gakpo twee keer, Elanga, vlak voor tijd nog Summerville. Bij Oranje werd onderweg nog gewisseld. De teams in onze boten bleken vanaf de start al opmerkelijk stabiel. Het tactisch overleg beperkte zich vooral tot Tessa, die op gezette tijden voorstelde om nog eens extra te “doorvallen” – voor de rust en, minstens zo belangrijk, voor de stilte.

De avond hield die dubbelheid vast: daar doelpunten, hier halen; daar een oplopende score, hier een oplopende afstand. Voetbal laat zich onthouden in minuten – 5, 17, 47, 54, 59, 89. Roeien telt anders. In slagen, bruggen, stukken oever en in alles wat je alleen opmerkt als je lang genoeg buiten bent. Inka wees ons telkens weer op de schoonheid van de natuur en het bijzondere moment, met een zonsondergang die het decor alle eer aandeed. En juist doordat het zo stil was, hoorde Wilfried in de verte zelfs De Toppers uit de Arena overwaaien.

Halverwege bleek opnieuw dat een goede tocht niet alleen van boten afhangt, maar ook van verzorging. Taco prees niet alleen de koffie, thee en limonade, maar ook de spekkies, krentenboterhammen en plakken koek met dik boter tijdens de picknick. En het gastvrije toilet bij de houthandel op de wal.

Boven dat alles hing geen volle maan, maar een groeiende sikkel, laag in het westen, even aanwezig en daarna verdwenen. De kortste nacht bleef dus vooral kort: de schemering hield lang stand, echte duisternis kwam laat.

Rond 24.00 uur meldden de eerste boten zich weer terug. De wedstrijd allang afgelopen, de tocht netjes uitgeroeid. En de nazit? Die werd gehouden bij de buren van roeivereniging Poseidon. Zoals Guus het kernachtig samenvatte: “Leuk om eens binnen te kijken bij de Poseidon-buren.”

Twee vormen van sport, een zomeravond, zes goals, 29 kilometer – en een gezelschap dat, veelzeggend genoeg, liever zelf in beweging kwam dan ernaar te kijken.

Hulde aan W3 Toercommissie en de W3 Regiogroep. En volgend jaar graag weer een volle maan.

Thirty kilometers, six goals, and a night that was hardly a night

This year’s Shortest Night Tour 2026 actually began with a score already on the board. At 7:00 p.m., the Sweden vs. Netherlands match kicked off in Amsterdam; at 8:00 p.m., our boats set off on a 29-kilometer journey. By that time, Brobbey had already scored twice. The Netherlands were in the lead, and we were still on shore. And that perhaps says something about this group: there was a perfectly legitimate alternative that evening—staying indoors to watch soccer—but there were simply people who got up and thought: “Great, that international match—we’re going rowing.”

After that, things unfolded in a strikingly parallel fashion. On the field, the lead was extended; on the water, the distance. Gakpo scored twice, Elanga once, and Summerville added another just before the final whistle. The Dutch national team even made a substitution along the way. The teams in our boats proved remarkably stable right from the start. Tactical discussions were limited mainly to Tessa, who periodically suggested we “push through” one more time—for the break and, just as importantly, for the silence.

The evening captured that duality: goals scored there, goals conceded here; a rising score there, a widening gap here. Soccer is measured in minutes—5, 17, 47, 54, 59, 89. Rowing is counted differently—in strokes, bridges, stretches of shore, and in everything you only notice when you’ve been out long enough. Inka kept drawing our attention to the beauty of nature and the special moment, with a sunset that did the scenery full justice. And precisely because it was so quiet, Wilfried could even hear De Toppers drifting over from the Arena in the distance.

Halfway through, it became clear once again that a good trip depends not only on the boats, but also on the provisions. Taco praised not only the coffee, tea, and lemonade, but also the spekkies, currant sandwiches, and slices of cake with thick butter during the picnic. And the welcoming restroom at the lumberyard on shore.

Above it all, there was no full moon, but a waxing crescent, low in the west, visible for a moment and then gone. So the shortest night remained, above all, short: twilight lingered for a long time, and true darkness came late.

Around midnight, the first boats began returning. The race had long since ended, and the rowing trip had been completed successfully. And the after-party? It was held at the neighbors’ place—the Poseidon Rowing Club. As Guus succinctly put it: “It was nice to get a peek inside the Poseidon neighbors’ place.”

Two sports, one summer evening, six goals, 29 kilometers—and a group that, tellingly, preferred to get moving themselves rather than just watch.

Kudos to the W3 Tour Committee and the W3 Regional Group. And here’s hoping for another full moon next year.

Op zondag 23 augustus 2026 organiseert de Toercommissie in samenwerking met de KNRB de jaarlijkse W3 Magnum.

De Magnum is een prestatietocht van 58 km over Vecht en Amstel, waarbij twee keer onder begeleiding het Amsterdam Rijnkanaal wordt overgestoken.
De tocht telt mee voor het KNRB marathon klassement.

Naast deelnemers uit het hele land willen we ook graag weer Willem 3 ploegen begroeten, uiteraard iets voor ervaren roeiers.

On Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, the Tour Committee will organize the annual W3 Magnum in collaboration with the KNRB.

The Magnum is a performance tour of 58 km across the Vecht and Amstel, during which the Amsterdam Rhine Canal is crossed twice under supervision.
The tour counts in the KNRB marathon rankings.

In addition to participants from all over the country, we would also like to welcome Willem 3 teams again, something for experienced rowers of course.

Register for Willem 3 members, please before July 15th, 2026, via toercommissie@willem3.nl. So we can see which boats remain available for the many guest rowers.
If you want the KNRB Marathon points to be credited to your name, please also register on KNRB (see below).

W3 tour committee

Voor het vierde jaar organiseert Willem3 tijdens de zomervakantie 2 onvergetelijke weken roeien voor jong aanstormend talent. Ervaren en onervaren roeiers van tussen de 10 en 15 jaar komen tussen 9u en 16u naar Willem3 om in verschillende boten te roeien en spelletjes te spelen. Willem3 verzorgd tijdens deze week de lunch en snacks tussendoor, en daar hebben we hulp bij nodig!

De coaching wordt voornamelijk verzorgd door de regio en wedstrijd roeiers van willem3 maar het verzorgen van de lunch, opruimen in de soos, afwassen en zorgen dat er genoeg te drinken klaar staat laten we liever door volwassenen doen. Vandaar deze oproep. We zoeken vrijwilligers die vooral boven in de soos kan helpen, met het klaarzetten van kannen drinken, de lunch, een snack, het opruimen na de lunch (met hulp van de coaches en roeiers) en mocht er iemand vallen kan helpen met een pleister plakken.

Voor iedere dag zoeken we 1 persoon die zou kunnen helpen, mocht je meerdere dagen kunnen/willen zou dat ook heel fijn zijn, geef in dit google formulier aan welke dagen je kan, dan ga ik puzzelen zodat alle dagen bezet zijn (in de opmerking kun je zetten hoeveel dagen je zou willen helpen). De data zijn:

We zouden het fijn vinden als je er ook rond 9:00 kan zijn en waarschijnlijk kunnen we je hulp tot een uur of 4 goed gebruiken 🙂

Wind, hamburgers, and winner’s cake!

On Saturday June 13th, 4 teams from Willem 3 took part in the third Regiowedstrijd competition in Uithoorn at the Michiel de Ruyter rowing club:
C4x+ Mix De Snelle Kano, Cox: Isabelle
C4x+ Mix FAAM, Cox: Ilayda
C4x+ Mix Golden Oldies, Cox: Greetje and
4x+ Heren SLAGroom, Cox: Ilayda💪

When the day started, there was a lot of wind, and many of us speculated that there could be a cancellation, but after turning up to the location and seeing all our W3 friends, we all quickly got back into the spirit!

The event was organised really well, and they even cooked hamburgers and hotdogs, which was great to fuel everyone after using extra strength to fight the wind! They even had a photographer, who eventually got on a boat himself to capture the action 📸

Team FAAM and Team SLAGroom won first prize—a cake—in their category. Team Golden Oldies finished in second place in the C4* Mix group.

After a lot of cheering, laughing and rowing like our lives depended on it, we all gathered together for a photo in our white and blue clothes, satisfied with a great day on the water 😊

Zet het alvast in je agenda: op zaterdag 5 september is de Willem III OWEE, de onderlinge wedstrijden van Willem III. Deze seizoenopening wedstrijden zullen gepaard gaan met leuke festiviteiten zoals botendoop en BBQ.

Jong, oud, beginner, toer-, wedstrijd- of veteranenroeier, voor iedereen zullen er leuke wedstrijdjes en andere sportieve uitdagingen zijn. Hoe en wat precies wordt later aangekondigd, maar blokkeer alvast voor  zaterdag 5 september je agenda vanaf de middag.

Save the Date Saturday September 5th Willem III OWEE

Mark your calendars: Saturday, September 5th is the Willem III OWEE, the internal competitions of Willem III. These season-opening races will be accompanied by fun festivities such as a boat christening and BBQ.

Young or old, beginner, touring, racing, or veteran rower—there will be fun races and other sporting challenges for everyone. Exact details will be announced later, but be sure to block out your calendar starting in the afternoon on Saturday, September 5th.

Just remember your bakboord side!

On Sunday June 7th, we took part in the W3 spring tour with Jan Pasman, a C4x+ skull. We set off at 9h30, and since the Triathlon was taking place, we did the tour in reverse order (anti-clockwise)! So we left going towards Ouderkerk, and we came back through the Weespertrekvaart.

It was someone’s birthday, so each team received a surprise treat – our team received a pack of stroopwafels.

Our boat decided to sing during our journey with our stuurboord dol squeaking -so the best remedy we had available was to pour water on top, and it did indeed help. When you’re on the water, you can get creative with problem-solving! 😁

The most interesting part of the tour was right after the lunch break, when we passed through a thin passage, The Nauwe Gein River, with slippen while the cox used the paddle and the boeg used a hook to push the boat away from hitting the edges.
We later had to doorvallen and slippen at the same time under a very low and slightly thin bridge, the Dorpsbrug in Abcoude.

Also, we met a boy who helped us along the way – he said he knows W3. We got the rudder stuck so he helped push us off – he was jogging past us in Abcoude.

We even had a woman from Montpellier joining the teams, because she likes to travel around different countries and spontaneously join rowing events – sounds like a fun way to incorporate rowing into your holiday!

The tour was beautiful, with strong wind in some places, and interesting views. Towards the afternoon we were lucky, because the sun came out to greet us, and we ended the day with some well-deserved snacks and a drink back at the club. 🌞☕

The Vogalonga (meaning “long journey”) is a 30-kilometer rowing event that has been held every year on Pentecost Sunday in Venice since 1974. The route passes through the lagoon and the historic city center across the Grand Canal and began as a protest against the many polluting motorboats that plague the lagoon city on a daily basis. In 2026, the 50th edition, seven teams from Willem 3 participated.

Slag klaarmaken, slag klaar, Spritz!

Team C4* Henley (Barbara, Giulio, Isabelle, Simone, Jun)
We are team Bella, and we took part in the Vogalonga on May 24th with the Henley C4x+. 🚣
🚣 🚣 🚣 🚣

Our boat travelled all the way to Venice and carried us through wavy seas. We are a multi-national team, from Italy, China, Poland, France and the UK, and we had a fantastic time singing songs from each country and telling stories on our boat.

The trip was almost 4 days, and we all arrived on Friday. A lot of us had the same flights, so we were even chatting at the airport before the big day. ✈

On Saturday, we unloaded the boats and brought them to Giardini, the place where we kept the boats overnight before the big event. There were lots of boats there from many different countries, with a lot of French teams. Our team was a little late, because we forgot our oars! However, in the end, we had luck on our side, and a kind man from the Diadora rowing club let us borrow their oars for the day! He even put them on his speedboat and gave us, along with the oars, a ride back to our boat! It was a fun story to tell at the dinner that evening.

The day at the Vogalonga event was fantastic, what an incredible event to be a part of! We started bright and early at 7am, then we heard a big starting canon, and we were off! We saw some of our fellow W3 boats along the way, as well as some fun costumes; I even saw a man in a penguin costume on a SUP! 🐧Some Willem 3’ers may also remember a boat with a dragon head! 🐲

Team C4* Amstel (Bastien, Els, MaryAnn, Stanislav, Vadim)
It was about 30 degrees so it was a very hot day! Team Amstel even created a “Goofy Time” command (like Goofy from Mickey Mouse), where they scooped water into their hats and dropped it on their head! It’s such a good idea to keep cool, and it’s maybe their secret to success, because they finished the day very quickly and arrived back at the boat loading area before 3pm! A fish even jumped out of the water as they headed back to celebrate with them!

Team W2x Ronde Hoep (Futo, Hester, Petra, Vesna)
Team W2x Ronde Hoep was lucky enough to have a very Italian experience in Venice, sharing a cafe corretto with a gondola before the starting cannon went off!
They were worried about getting too close in case of capsizing, but in the end the temptation of beautiful Italian coffee won.

Team C3* Doorzettter (Ilse, Philo, Renate, Titia)
Team De Vogalonga Vier was not worried about capsizing on the other hand, as they shared a unique experience hanging on the side of the Doorzetter to pee while having a casual chat, which is a team bonding experience I’m sure they will never forget! 😂

Team C4* Gein (Ellis, Ilayda, Suzanne (A), Suzanne (W), Vace)
Entering the Canale di Cannaregio was “beautiful chaos”, with everyone stressed and boats pushing together. Team Gein had an epic entrance; at the very moment they were thinking “what am I doing here?”, they heard Edith Piaf’s Non, je ne regrette rien blasting on speakers – it seems the french teams at the Vogalonga had a sense of humour! 😄

Team C4* Jan Pasman (Ellen, Fere, Gerdie, Marjolein, Rob)
We all collected our medals, and everyone received a t-shirt and a certificate of participation, along with a lovely poster! Team Marjolein struck up a conversation with a canoe participant who asked where they were staying, and when they told him about the hotel, his response was “oh yes, rowers”! Sounds like the locals already knew we were coming! 🛶🛶

Team C3* Doorduwer (Eva, Jim, Jonah, Marjon)
Some teams even brought the spirit of family to sea: Jim and Marjon convinced their adult kids to join them on a family adventure in the Doorduwer! If anyone reading this article has kids, this is your sign to encourage them to start rowing!

Approaching the Rialto Bridge towards the finishing line, everyone was full of energy. Onlookers were smiling and clapping, and everyone was relieved after getting through the bottleneck at the Canale di Cannaregio. At the end of the long journey, some of us even had a swim in the sea to cool down, and then we had a spritz and a dinner together, the perfect way to end such an incredible day! 😎

Ten behoeve van de leden van de Amsterdamse roeiverenigingen organiseren De Amstel, Amstelgeuzen, De Hoop, Michiel de Ruyter, Poseidon, RIC en Willem 3 op zaterdag 20 juni 2026 de jaarlijkse Kortste Nacht Tocht.

Programma:
19.30 uur: Verzamelen op het vlot bij Willem 3, briefing.
20.00 uur: Vertrek richting Ouderkerk.
Je roeit een avond- en nachttocht van ±29km rondom de Ronde Hoep-polder. Zie routekaart hieronder.
Halverwege de tocht is er een pauze met picknick op de oever van de Oude Waver (sanitaire stop).
Even na 22.00 uur zie je de zonsondergang vanuit je bootje op de Oude Waver.
Je roeit door het donker over de Amstel langs Nes en Ouderkerk terug naar Amsterdam.
Vanaf ±0.00 uur worden de eerste boten terug verwacht.
Nazit met gezelligheid, soep en broodjes bij Poseidon.
De eindtijd inclusief de nazit zal rond 01.00 à 02.00 uur ’s nachts zijn.

Informatie:
Geschikt voor roeiers met een redelijk goede conditie en minimaal klasse S1 (bij voorkeur klasse St2+).
Je moet in staat zijn om zelfstandig in- en uit de boot te stappen bij lastige oevers.
Er zijn lage en/of smalle bruggen te verwachten op deze route. Je moet bekend zijn met de commando’s ‘slippen en doorvallen’ en deze correct uit kunnen voeren..

Een bevoegde en geoefende captain per boot is verplicht!
Er is eventueel een captain vanuit de Toercommissie beschikbaar voor een ploeg die zelf niet stuurbevoegd is.

Invitation: Shortest Night Tour, Saturday, June 20th, 2026

Are you up for a unique rowing experience?

For the members of Amsterdam’s rowing clubs, De Amstel, Amstelgeuzen, De Hoop, Michiel de Ruyter, Poseidon, RIC, and Willem 3 are organizing the annual Shortest Night Tour on Saturday, June 20th, 2026.

Schedule:
7:30 p.m. Meet at the dock at Willem 3, briefing.
8:00 p.m. Departure toward Ouderkerk.
You’ll row a ± 29-km evening and night tour around the Ronde Hoep polder. See the map above.
Halfway through the tour, there will be a break with a picnic on the banks of the Oude Waver (restroom stop).
Shortly after 10:00 p.m., you’ll watch the sunset from your boat on the Oude Waver.
In the dark, you’ll row across the Amstel past Nes and Ouderkerk back to Amsterdam.
The first boats are expected to return around midnight.
After-party with fun, soup, and sandwiches at Poseidon.
The event will conclude, including the after-party, around 1:00–2:00 a.m.

Registration, no later than June 16th:
Register yourself or your team by June 16th at toercommissie@willem3.nl, mentioning “Kortste Nacht 2026.” Please include the following for yourself and/or your team members:
(a) your name(s)
(b) mobile phone number(s)

(e) if applicable, your preference for a wherry or Cx+ boat.

Cost:
Participation costs €12.50 per person, including a picnic along the way and soup with sandwiches afterward.

Information:
Suitable for rowers in reasonably good physical condition and with a minimum of S1 class (preferably St2+ class).
You must be able to get in and out of the boat independently at difficult banks.
Low and/or narrow bridges are to be expected on this route. You must be familiar with the “slippen and doorvallen” commands and be able to execute them correctly.

A qualified and experienced captain per boat is mandatory!
A captain from the Touring Committee may be available for a team that does not have its own qualified captain.
