Zet het alvast in je agenda: op zondag 7 september is de Willem III OWEE, de onderlinge wedstrijden van Willem III. Deze seizoenopening wedstrijden zullen gepaard gaan met leuke festiviteiten zoals botendoop, BBQ en na afloop een Feest.

Jong, oud, beginner, toer-, wedstrijd- of veteranenroeier, voor iedereen zullen er leuke wedstrijdjes en andere sportieve uitdagingen zijn. Hoe en wat precies wordt later aangekondigd, maar blokkeer alvast voor  zondag 7 september je agenda vanaf de middag.

We zoeken ook nog vrijwilligers die mee willen helpen met organiseren, dus heb je tijd, stuur dan even een mailtje naar wedstrijd@willem3.nl.

Het inschrijfformulier wordt medio augustus op de website gepubliceerd.

Op Zondag 15 juni aanstaande vindt de triatlon TRI AMSTERDAM plaats. Deelnemers gaan zwemmen, fietsen en lopen, allemaal rond Willem III. Hierdoor is de Jan Vroegopsingel afgesloten voor verkeer van 7:30-17:00.

TRI AMSTERDAM start 8:00 uur in Park Somerlust bij RIC. Van 8.00 – 10.30 uur zwemmen de deelnemers in de Amstel van RIC een rondje Berlage Brug, roei dan niet richting stad. Het fietsen is van 8.30 – 13.30 uur en gaat over de Jan Vroegopsingel. Het hardlopen is van 10:15-16:30 loopt onder de Utrechtbrug door om er vervolgens overheen te gaan. Zie voor alle details de bewonersinformatie.

De Jan Vroegopsingel zal dan zoveel mogelijk verkeersvrij worden gemaakt. De afsluitingen en omleidingen worden ter plekke met gele borden aangegeven. Hou hier dus rekening mee als je op zondagochtend 15 juni naar Willem III komt! Vermijd de auto en kom met de fiets, OV of lopend.

Another opportunity to row the city canals at night willl be the Snerttocht november 9th.

Zoals veel mensen inmiddels weten, is MySportsplanner vanaf 1 juni alleen nog gratis voor gebruikers met slechts één sportsplanner op hun account.

Onze complete instructieorganisatie maakt gebruik van MySportsplanner, en wij vinden het niet eerlijk dat leden binnen deze instructie organisatie zelf zouden moeten betalen voor de diensten die wij als vereniging aanbieden. Daarom zijn we samen met MySportsplanner aan het onderzoeken hoe we dit kunnen oplossen.

Voor alle leden die momenteel deel uitmaken van een van de onderstaande instructiegroepen in MySportsplanner, zullen we op zeer korte termijn een zogenaamde ‘whitelist’ aanmaken. Dit betekent dat je geen kosten hoeft te betalen voor meerdere groepen die door Willem III worden gebruikt. Het gaat om de volgende groepen: maav, diav, woskiff, womo, doav, vrijmo, zamo, zaskiff, stuurplanner, zo11u, overstapcursus, KomtUmaar., Instructie 45.

As many people already know, MySportsplanner will only remain free for users with a single sports planner on their account starting from June 1st.

Our entire instruction organization uses MySportsplanner, and we believe it’s unfair for members within this organization to pay individually for the services we use as a club. That’s why we’re working closely with MySportsplanner to find a solution.

For all members currently in one of the instruction groups listed below, we will soon create a “whitelist.” This means you won’t have to pay for access to multiple groups used by Willem III. These groups are: maav, diav, woskiff, womo, doav, vrijmo, zamo, zaskiff, stuurplanner, zo11u, overstapcursus, KomtUmaar., Instructie 45.

Op zaterdagavond 28 juni 2025 organiseren de Samenwerkende Amsterdamse Roeiverenigingen (De Amstel, Amstelgeuzen, De Hoop, Poseidon, RIC en Willem 3), de jaarlijkse Kortste Nacht Tocht.

Programma:
19.30 uur: Verzamelen bij Willem 3, briefing
20.00 uur: Vertrek richting Ouderkerk
Je roeit een avond- en nachttocht van 29km rondom de Ronde Hoep-polder.
Halverwege de tocht is er een pauze met picknick op de oever van de Waver (sanitaire stop).
Even na 22.00 uur zie je de zonsondergang vanuit je bootje op de Waver.
Door het donker roei je over de Amstel langs Nes en Ouderkerk terug naar Willem 3.
Na afloop, gezellig napraten, soep en broodjes bij Willem 3.
Vanaf ±0.00 uur worden de eerste boten terug verwacht bij Willem 3.
De eindtijd inclusief de nazit zal rond 01.00 à 02.00 uur ’s nachts zijn.

Informatie:

Er zijn lage en/of smalle bruggen te verwachten op deze route, je moet kunnen slippen en doorvallen.

Invitation: Shortest Night Tour – Saturday June 28th 2025

Are you up for a special rowing experience?

On Saturday evening June 28th 2025, the Amsterdam Rowing Clubs (De Amstel, Amstelgeuzen, De Hoop, Poseidon, RIC and Willem 3) are organising the annual Shortest Night Tour.

Program:
7:30 pm: Gathering at Willem 3, briefing
8 pm: Departure towards Ouderkerk
You will row an evening and night trip of 29km around the Ronde Hoep polder.
Halfway through the trip there is a break with a picnic on the banks of the Waver (sanitary stop).
Shortly after 10 pm you will see the sunset from your boat on the Waver.
In the dark you will row over the Amstel past Nes and Ouderkerk back to Willem 3.
After-party, nice chat, soup and sandwiches at Willem 3.
The first boats are expected back at Willem 3 from approximately 00:00.
The end time including the after-party will be around 01:00 to 02:00 am at night.

The second race of the 2025 Regioroeien Competition took place on the 17th of May; the rowing clubs Willem III and Poseidon had the pleasure of hosting this round.

With participation of 31 teams, the event was buzzing with energy from start to finish. Many teams were familiar from the first race, while others were newly formed after hearing how fun this race can be.

The day kicked off with calm water, clear skies, and high spirits. Boats from both W3 and Poseidon’s fleet were prepped early, and by the time the first call to the dock came, the energy was real.

Friends, families, and clubmates cheering each other on and soaking up the sunshine, it really couldn’t have been better racing day.

The first heat set the tone with a bang: C4* Heren team 1881 from Willem III clocked the fastest time of the day at 1:30:9. That result fired everyone up, and the rest of the teams followed with great enthusiasm along the race until the last strokes were taken.

After the race, everyone gathered to relax, grab a drink and wait for the results and of course the famous cake! In true Regioroeien spirit, slices were generously shared with competitors.

Regioroeien is such a great event that brings together novice rowers from different clubs, sparks new friendships, and gives people a real taste of racing.

Huge thanks to the organizing team, hosting clubs, volunteers, and the participating rowers!

On 11th of May, the Lentetocht (Geintocht) took place. This was a 29 km adventure with a sunny lunch break in ‘Abbey Abcoude’, and what a day it was!

For me, it all began when Simone posted in the WhatsApp group asking if anyone wanted to form a team. I jumped at the chance! Soon, our crew came together: Simone, Berk, Marianne, and me. On the day of the tour, we gathered at the club and hit the water after the captains’ briefing and prepped the boats. We were with a cheerful fleet of C4*, C3* and wherries, total 33 people.

Marianne started as stuur, Simone as captain, and Berk rowing — while I enjoyed the “princess passenger” spot for a bit before we rotated. The route was full of greenery and charm, taking us through Diemen, Gaasp, Driemond, Gein, and finally to Abcoude. The narrow canals and low bridges gave us a great chance to practice slippen and doorvallen.

The tour was super well organized, with clear route instructions and fun facts sprinkled along the way. In Abcoude, Vesna, Maaike, and Berthie greeted us with warm smiles and helped us settle in for a relaxed lunch break where the whole group got to mingle and recharge.

After the break, we headed back via the scenic route through Ouderkerk. We returned to the club full of good vibes, tan lines, and fun memories. We were tired but glowing from the sun and joy as we wrapped up the day with snacks, drinks on the terrace.

Huge thanks to the organizing team and all the lovely rowers. Can’t wait to join the next one! 😊
