Hierbij nodigen we je uit voor de OWee (Onderlinge Wedstrijden) van Willem III op zaterdag 5 september vanaf 14:00 uur en met in het voorprogramma boten schoonmaken en poetsen van 12:00-14:00

Naast leuke wedstrijden sluiten we dag af met een BBQ en live muziek.

De dag ziet er als volgt uit:

Meld je aan voor de wedstrijden en/of de BBQ via dit aanmeldingsformulier.

De kosten voor de BBQ voor leden zijn €10 die vooraf betaald moet worden via deze betaal link €10.

Wil je je partner of kinderen meenemen, geef dit dan aan op het inschrijfformulier. De kosten voor niet-leden zijn €30 en moeten vooraf betaald worden. Leden hebben voorrang maar we verwachten dat er voldoende plek is. We laten dit uiterlijk 1 week van te voren weten en dan ontvang je ook de betaallink.

Je kunt je t/m 2 september  opgeven voor de wedstrijden en de BBQ.  Geef je snel op want Vol = Vol.

• Niet op tijd betaald betekent dat je niet kan BBQ’en.
• Heb je geen bevestigingsmail van “Google Formulieren” gehad dan is je aanmelding niet goed door gekomen. Vul het formulier dan alsjeblieft nog een keer opnieuw in.

We would like to invite you to the Willem III OWee (Internal Races) on Saturday, September 5th, starting at 14:00. The preliminary program includes boat cleaning and polishing from 12:00 to 14:00.

In addition to the fun races, we will conclude the day with a BBQ and live music.

The cost of the BBQ for members is €10, payable in advance via this payment link €10.

If you wish to bring your partner or children, please indicate this on the registration form. The cost for non-members is €30, payable in advance. Members have priority, though we expect there to be sufficient space. We will confirm availability one week in advance, at which point you will also receive the payment link.

You can register for the races and the BBQ up to and including September 2nd. Sign up quickly, as space is limited.

• Start: from the harbour, heading starboard into the canal to the start line (all boats start together each lap)

• Start in front of the Breitnerstraat bridge (opposite the Hilton) and finish between the Amstel and the flags of the Harbour Club
• Boats start individually, 30 seconds apart
• Each team rows the course twice; the average of the two finishing times is taken

Target group: recreational rowers and beginners with at least an S1 qualification who would like to try their hand at competitive rowing.

What do you need to do?
• Form a team for your preferred boat type (C2x+, C4x+ or 4x+).
• Your team can consist of women, men or a mixed team. (A mixed team must consist of at least 50 per cent women).
• The main focus is on having fun during training and at the races.
• You’ll be competing against teams from the Amsterdam region and surrounding areas.

Fancy joining in? It could well be your stepping stone to bigger races such as the Novembervieren, the Head of the River and the Heineken Roeivierkamp.

We zijn op zoek naar de 8 beste boordroei(st)ers van Willem III.

Op 26 september 2026 is er de Amstelbeker, een wedstrijd waarbij de beste dames en heren verenigings achten boord aan boord strijden over 750 meter op de Amstel.

Junior, senior of veteraan,  namens Willem III willen we de twee snelste achten mogelijk op het water brengen. De coach zal hiervoor een selectie houden tussen de kandidaten die zich aanmelden.

Ben je een zeer goede en fitte boordroei(st)er en heb je interesse en tijd om te trainen? Meld je asap aan voor de selectie via dit google formulier

Wind, hamburgers, and winner’s cake!

On Saturday June 13th, 4 teams from Willem 3 took part in the third Regiowedstrijd competition in Uithoorn at the Michiel de Ruyter rowing club:
C4x+ Mix De Snelle Kano, Cox: Isabelle
C4x+ Mix FAAM, Cox: Ilayda
C4x+ Mix Golden Oldies, Cox: Greetje and
4x+ Heren SLAGroom, Cox: Ilayda💪

When the day started, there was a lot of wind, and many of us speculated that there could be a cancellation, but after turning up to the location and seeing all our W3 friends, we all quickly got back into the spirit!

The event was organised really well, and they even cooked hamburgers and hotdogs, which was great to fuel everyone after using extra strength to fight the wind! They even had a photographer, who eventually got on a boat himself to capture the action 📸

Team FAAM and Team SLAGroom won first prize—a cake—in their category. Team Golden Oldies finished in second place in the C4* Mix group.

After a lot of cheering, laughing and rowing like our lives depended on it, we all gathered together for a photo in our white and blue clothes, satisfied with a great day on the water 😊

Would you like to join us for this exciting challenge? The next Regional Race will be held on Saturday, September 12th, at RZV De Amstel. Open to recreational rowers and beginners starting at the S1 class.

Koninklijke Holland Beker 2026 — kom langs op de Bosbaan!

Van 19 t/m 21 juni 2026 wordt op de Bosbaan in Amsterdam weer de Koninklijke Holland Beker geroeid: een weekend vol topsport, spanning en een geweldige sfeer langs de baan. De KHB is een van de klassiekers op de Nederlandse roeikalender en trekt elk jaar roeiers van eigen bodem én daarbuiten.

Wat kun je verwachten?

Het weekend trapt op vrijdag af met een professionals- en bedrijvenborrel: een mooie gelegenheid voor bedrijven en relaties om in een ontspannen sfeer samen te komen voorafgaand aan het wedstrijdweekend. Op zaterdag en zondag volgen de races elkaar in hoog tempo op — van fanatieke clubploegen tot de absolute top.

Naast het roeien is er ook buiten het water genoeg te beleven. Cantina Mobile staat het hele weekend op locatie met een ruim aanbod aan eten en drinken, zodat je niets tekortkomt tijdens een dagje aan de baan. Op het menu staan ook voedzame, gebalanceerde gerechten — perfect voor roeiers en sporters die tussen de races door goed willen blijven eten. Royal Holland Cup 2026 — come visit the Bosbaan!

From June 19 to 21, 2026, the Royal Holland Cup will once again be rowed at the Bosbaan in Amsterdam: a weekend full of top-level sport, excitement, and a fantastic atmosphere along the course. The KHB is one of the classics on the Dutch rowing calendar and attracts rowers from home and abroad every year.

What can you expect?

The weekend kicks off on Friday with a professional and corporate networking event: a great opportunity for companies and business associates to come together in a relaxed atmosphere prior to the competition weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, the races follow one another at a rapid pace — from enthusiastic club crews to the absolute elite.

Besides rowing, there is plenty to experience off the water as well. Cantina Mobile will be on-site all weekend with a wide range of food and drinks, ensuring you want for nothing during a day at the course. The menu also features nutritious, balanced dishes — perfect for rowers and athletes who want to keep eating well between races. Afgelopen weekend werd voor het eerst na de verbouwing van de Bosbaan weer een grote roeiwedstrijd op de Bosbaan gehouden: de ARB Bosbaanwedstrijden.

Willem III was met 41 inschijvingen zeer goed vertegenwoordigd, vooral bij de Jeugd en Junioren maar ook in het Elite Dames veld lieten wij van ons horen.

Met 9 overwiningen hadden we genoeg punten verzameld om de ARBeker in ontvangst te nemen. De ARBeker is een prijs voor de best presterende vereniging van de wedstrijd.

Een super resultaat van onze roeiers en hun coaches. Van harte gefeliciteerd allemaal!

Last weekend, for the first time since the renovation of the Bosbaan, a major rowing competition was held on the Bosbaan: the ARB Bosbaan Races.

Willem III was very well represented with 41 entries, especially in the Youth and Junior categories, but we also made our presence felt in the Elite Women’s field.

With 9 victories, we collected enough points to win the ARBeker. The ARBeker is a prize for the best-performing club of the competition.

A fantastic result for our rowers and their coaches. Congratulations to everyone!

Gents geroei

Deze alliteratie vond in het weekeind van 9/10 mei plaats. Met een overvol bepakte en behangen botenwagen zijn alle jeugd en wedstrijd junioren roeiers naar de camping in Gent verhuisd om veel lol te maken. Met alle roeiers samen zijn de bootjes supersnel opgeriggerd, hier en daar zelfs met levende schragen. Na dit zware werk kon er een lekker potje geroeid worden in veel verschillende samenstellingen.
Onze jeugd toppers knalden iedere keer 1000m over de baan, de wedstrijd junioren hebben allemaal net iets meer dan 2000m gevaren. Echt waar en hoe dit zit, tja…. 😊. De heats vlogen ons om de oren die ieder een wedstrijd op zich waren. Per nummer werd de einduitslag bepaald op basis van alle geroeide tijden in de heats. Vermeldenswaard is dat Loïs van Dis beide dagen het meisjes U19 veld wist te winnen in de skiff. Een hele knappe prestatie in dit internationale veld. Een andere topprestatie kwam van de begeleiders van de jeugdroeiers: met vijf ouders negen skiffs op de baan leggen in 15 minuten! En last but not least, onze jongste wedstrijdroeiers Veerle Booij en Lynn Fontein hebben samen geblikt.
Bij alle wedstrijden zijn de Willem 3’ ers hard aangemoedigd door elkaar, rennend langs de baan, vanuit de fijne tent, maar altijd met veel lawaai. Van al dit gedoe krijg je trek, maar Sue had weer voor een heerlijke BBQ gezorgd, echt geweldig.
Na een (hier en daar) korte nacht waren de wedstrijden op zondag pittig mede door de harde tegenwind. Maar niet getreurd, er is weer hard gestreden.
Na deze inspanningen zijn alle bootjes in sneltreinvaart op de botenwagen gepuzzeld en kon Yuri rustig naar Amsterdam rijden.
Het was weer heerlijk dat Gentse geroei.

Gents geroei

This alliteration took place on the weekend of May 9/10. With a fully packed and decorated boat trailer, all the youth and competitive junior rowers moved to the campsite in Ghent to have a lot of fun. The boats were rigged up super fast with all the rowers together, here and there even using human trestles. After this hard work, a great rowing session could be enjoyed in many different combinations.

Our youth stars blasted across the course for 1000m every time, while the competitive juniors all rowed just over 2000m. It’s true, and as for how that works, well… 😊. The heats flew by, each being a race in itself. For each event, the final result was determined based on all the times rowed in the heats. It is worth mentioning that Loïs van Dis managed to win the girls’ U19 field in the single scull on both days. A very impressive performance in this international field. Another top performance came from the youth rowers’ supervisors: getting nine skiffs onto the course in 15 minutes with just five parents! And last but not least, our youngest competitive rowers Veerle Booij and Lynn Fontein won a medal together.
At all the races, the Willem 3 members cheered each other on loudly, running along the course from the nice tent, but always with a lot of noise. All this commotion makes you hungry, but Sue had once again arranged a delicious BBQ—truly amazing.
After a (somewhat) short night, the races on Sunday were tough, partly due to the strong headwind. But don’t worry, they fought hard again.
After these efforts, all the boats were puzzled onto the boat trailer at lightning speed, and Yuri could drive to Amsterdam in peace.
It was wonderful to experience that Ghent rowing again.

The third Regional Competition of 2026 is being organised by Michiel de Ruyter in Uithoorn and will take place on Saturday June 13th.

Target group: recreational rowers and beginners with an S1 qualification who would like to try their hand at competitive rowing.

How does it work?
• Form a team for your preferred boat type (C2x+, C4x+ or 4x+).
• Your team can consist of women, men or a mixed group. (Mixed teams must be at least 50% women).
• It’s all about having fun during training and at the races.
• You’ll be competing against teams from the Amsterdam region and surrounding areas.

Will you be joining in? It could well be your stepping stone to bigger races such as the Novembervieren, the Head of the River and the Heineken Roeivierkamp.

You will be added as a member of the W3 Regional Competition rowers’ WhatsApp group. Information relevant to the races will be shared in this group.
You may also register as an individual W3 rower. Find your own potential teammates among the members of the WhatsApp group. Alternatively, we will try to pair you with other individual participants.

Costs: €10.00 per boat with 2 rowers and €20.00 per boat with 4 rowers.

Afgelopen 3 weekenden werden de openingsklassiekers van het roeiseizoen gehouden met de Head of the River Amstel,de Heineken Roeivierkamp en de Jeugd- en Tweehead en Skiffhead. Alle drie de weekenden was het goed weer maar op de zondagochtend van de Head of the River was er helaas hardnekkig mist waardoor het te gevaarlijk was om het 1e blok door te laten gaan. In de middag was de mist opgetrokken en konden we genieten van onder andere het hoofdnummer ME 8+ met de 2 Deutschland-Achter van Mark Emke. Na de introductie van de tribune op de landtong vorig jaar was dit jaar een drone squad de novitiet bij de Head die fantastische beelden hebben gemaakt. Je kan deze hier terug kijken.

Op de Heineken Roeivierkamp was het weer een gezellige drukte op Willem III waarbij de blok wisselingen met inkomende en uitgaande ploegen altijd tot chaotische taferelen leidt op onze vlotten.

Onze jeugd en junioren deden en masse mee aan de Jeugdhead, veelal in 4* maar ook in 2x’s. Op de Tweehead waren het onze mannen 2x’s die er met de winst vandoor gingen in zowel het Senioren als in het Master veld. De master 2x wist zelf ondanks een aanvaring heel knap een minuut voor de rest van het veld te finishen. Op de Skiffhead waren het Marijke Zeekant en Loïs van Dis die de winst op eisden. Marijke Zeekant werd als Master H zelfs heel knap overal 7e in het Mastersveld en Loïs van Dis prologeerde haar titel dit jaar heel overtuigend met 1 minuut voorsprong op de rest van het veld.

Dit zijn de winnende Willem III ploegen, gefeliciteerd allemaal.

Looking back: Successful spring races

Over the past three weekends, the opening classics of the rowing season were held: the Head of the River Amstel, the Heineken Rowing Quadrathlon, and the Youth-, Double-, and Skiffhead. The weather was good all three weekends, but unfortunately, on the Sunday morning of the Head of the River, there was persistent fog, making it too dangerous to start the first block. By the afternoon, the fog had lifted, and we were able to enjoy, among other things, the main event, the Men’s Elite 8+, with the Deutschland-Achter 2 coached by Mark Emke. Following the introduction of the grandstand on the peninsula last year, a drone squad was this years novelty at the Head, capturing fantastic footage. You can watch it back here.

At the Heineken Rowing Quadrathlon, it was once again a lively atmosphere at Willem III, where the block changes involving incoming and outgoing crews always lead to chaotic scenes on our pontoons. Our youth and juniors participated en masse in the Youth Head, mostly in 4* but also in 2x. At the Twohead, it was our men’s 2x that took the win in both the Senior and Master fields. Despite a collision, the Master 2x managed to finish a minute ahead of the rest of the field in a very impressive manner. At the Skiffhead, it was Marijke Zeekant and Loïs van Dis who claimed the victory. Marijke Zeekant, as a Master H, even achieved a very impressive 7th place overall in the Master field, and Loïs van Dis defended her title this year very convincingly with a 1-minute lead over the rest of the field.
