Terugblik: W3 Lichtjestocht, zaterdag 19 september 2026

Een stukje reizen met de trein en al heel snel waren we in Amsterdam. We hadden alles bij ons. Club kleding van de KRG De Hunze, lichtjes, regenkleding, bubbels en bites.

Eerst een hapje bij tHuis aan de Amstel en dan een gastvrije ontvangst bij Roeivereniging Willem III. Hartelijk dank voor de wherries Fryslân, Hans Wouter en Cox. Wat een mooie faciliteiten en leuk om de andere roeiers te ontmoeten.

Na het besluit ‘kantje boord (vanwege de stevige wind) maar we gaan’, hup het water op en wat was het heerlijk! Met de wind mee de Amstel op en door de grachten. Langs het Amstel Hotel, Carré, Artis en al die prachtige huizen en romantisch verlichte bruggen.

Het was druk op het water maar de sturen loosden ons er veilig doorheen. Aanmoediging van de kant door vrienden en familieleden maakte het helemaal gezellig.

Het was flink donker toen we weer aankwamen en weer werden we fantastisch ontvangen en sloten de avond gezellig af. Geen prijs voor onze lichtjes helaas, maar we hebben veel inspiratie opgedaan bij de creatieve aanpak van de andere teams. Volgend jaar zijn we er weer.

Aankondiging Lichtjestocht gemist?
Dat klopt. De Lichtjestocht staat op de KNRB evenementenkalender en ploegen uit het hele land schrijven hier graag op in. Dat ging dit jaar zo snel dat we een dag nadat de inschrijving open was al vol waren. Dus dit jaar helaas geen plek meer voor onze eigen leden. Gelukkig organiseren we voor de Willem III leden op 14 november ’s avonds de Snerttocht. Rond half oktober gaat de inschrijving open. Tot dan.

A look back: W3 Lichtjestocht, Saturday September 19th, 2026

It was quite a journey by train, but we were in Amsterdam in no time. We had everything with us: KRG De Hunze club kit, lights, rainwear, bubbly and snacks.

First, a bite to eat at tHuis on the Amstel, followed by a warm welcome at the Willem III Rowing Club. Many thanks for the wherries, Fryslân, Hans Wouter and Cox. What lovely facilities, and it was great to meet the other rowers.

After deciding ‘we’ll just stick to the banks (because of the strong wind) but we’re going anyway’, off we went onto the water – and what a treat it was! With the wind behind us, we rowed up the Amstel and through the canals. Past the Amstel Hotel, Carré, Artis and all those beautiful houses and romantically lit bridges.

It was busy on the water, but the coxswains steered us safely through it all. Cheers from the banks by friends and family made it a really enjoyable experience.

It was quite dark by the time we got back, and once again we were given a fantastic welcome and rounded off the evening in fine style. No prize for our lights, unfortunately, but we drew plenty of inspiration from the creative approaches of the other teams. We’ll be back next year.

Did you miss the announcement about the Lichtjestocht?
That’s right. The Lichtjestocht is listed on the KNRB events calendar, and teams from all over the country are keen to sign up for it. This year, places filled up so quickly that we were fully booked just one day after registration opened. So, unfortunately, there were no places left for our own members this year. Fortunately, we’re organising the Snerttocht for Willem III members on the evening of 14 November. Registration opens around mid-October. See you then.
