Wil je op 24 mei 2026 meedoen aan de 50ste Vogalonga in Venetië?
De Vogalonga (betekent ‘lange tocht’) is een 30 kilometer lang roei-evenement dat sinds 1974 elk jaar op Pinksterzondag wordt gehouden in Venetië. De route gaat door de lagune en door de oude stad over het Canal Grande en is begonnen als een protest tegen de vele vervuilende motorvaartuigen die de lagunestad dagelijks teisteren.

In 2019 deden er 2002 boten mee met >7500 roeiers. Van Willem 3 waren er 4 boten met 19 deelnemers. Het was een onvergetelijke ervaring!

Voorlopige aanmelding:
Om een idee te krijgen van het aantal ploegen dat mee wil doen vragen we je om je voorlopige aanmelding (bij voorkeur als ploeg, individueel mag ook) uiterlijk 12 oktober 2025 te sturen naar toercommissie@willem3.nl onder vermelding van:
‘Vogalonga 2026’. Plus:
(a) jullie namen
(b) jullie mobiele nummers
(c) jullie emailadressen
(d) jullie afroeiklassen
(e) jullie voorkeur voor een C*-boot of een wherry.
De inschrijving staat open voor leden van Willem 3.
Na aanmelding ontvangen jullie een bevestigingsmail met aanvullende informatie.

Informatie bijeenkomst en Definitieve aanmelding:
1. Kort na 12 oktober wordt er een informatiebijeenkomst gehouden voor de voorlopige Vogalonga deelnemers. De datum wordt nog bekend gemaakt.
2. Aan de hand daarvan heb je tot 30 oktober de gelegenheid om je aanmelding definitief te maken, of af te haken.
3. Daarna worden de ploegen en de boten ingedeeld.

Voor wie is de Vogalonga geschikt?
1. Je moet redelijk goed kunnen roeien (klasse S1 en St2) en een redelijk goede conditie hebben.
2. Het is aan te bevelen om tenminste 1x met je ploeg een langere afstand afgelegd te hebben.
3. Een bevoegde en geoefende Stuur per boot is verplicht.
4. Deelname aan de cursus ‘Roeien op stromend water’, elk voorjaar bij Nautilus Rotterdam, is een aanrader.
5. Verder is het handig als je in staat bent om te wisselen op het water.

Wat mag je verwachten?
1. Uit de groep van definitieve deelnemers wordt een Vogalonga comité gevormd, om de organisatie van de W3 Vogalonga reis op zich te nemen. De Toercommissie kan helpen met opstarten en ondersteuning.
2. Het Vogalonga comité regelt centraal:
a. Het botentransport naar Venetië vv (of, als dat lukt, de boothuur ter plekke);
b. Je aanmelding bij de organisatie van de Vogalonga;
c. Gezamenlijke avondmaaltijd, briefing en uitdelen van de rugnummers op 23 mei, en;
d. In principe je hotelovernachting (aankomst vrijdag middag, vertrek maandag ochtend), inclusief ontbijt en toeristenbelasting. Je mag ook je eigen overnachting regelen.
3. Je zorgt zelf voor je reis naar en van Venetië. Je eten en drinken tijdens je verblijf en de kosten van openbaar vervoer binnen Venetië.
4. Als W3 deelnemersgroep zorg je gezamenlijk voor het af- en opriggeren van de boten, het laden en lossen van de botenwagen.

De kosten: zijn op dit moment nog niet bekend. We zijn druk bezig met het verzamelen van de informatie. Nog even je geduld gevraagd.
Hou rekening met een serieus bedrag, zie punt 2 a,b,c,d en punt 3 onder het bovenstaande kopje.

Would you like to participate in the 50th Vogalonga in Venice on May 24th, 2026?
The Vogalonga (meaning “long journey”) is a 30-kilometer rowing tour held annually in Venice on Pentecost Sunday since 1974. The route winds through the lagoon and the old town along the Grand Canal and began as a protest against the many polluting motorboats that plague the lagoon city daily.

In 2019, 2,002 boats with over 7,500 rowers participated. On behalf of Willem 3, 4 boats with 19 participants participated. It was an unforgettable experience!

Provisional registration:
To get an idea of the number of teams that would like to participate, we ask that you send your preliminary registration (preferably as a team, but individually is also welcome) to toercommissie@willem3.nl no later than October 12th, 2025, with the subject line:
“Vogalonga 2026.” Also include:
(a) your names
(b) your mobile numbers
(c) your email addresses
(d) your rowing classes
(e) your preference for a C* boat or a wherry.
Registration is open to Willem 3 members.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with additional information.

Information meeting and final registration:
1. Shortly after October 12th, an information meeting will be held for the provisional Vogalonga participants. The date will be announced later.
2. Based on this information, you have until October 30th to finalize your registration or withdraw.
3. After that, the teams and boats will be assigned.

Whom is the Vogalonga suitable for?
1. You must be able to row reasonably well (class S1 and St2) and have a reasonably good physical condition.
2. It is recommended that you have rowed a longer distance with your team at least once.
3. A qualified and experienced coxswain is required.
4. Participation in the “Roeien op stromend water” course, held every spring at Nautilus Rotterdam, is highly recommended.
5. It is also helpful if you can change places on the water.

What can you expect?
1. A Vogalonga committee will be formed from the group of confirmed participants to organize the W3 Vogalonga trip. The Tour Committee can assist with the start-up and support.
2. The Vogalonga committee will centrally arrange:
a. Boat transport to and from Venice (or, if possible, boat rental on site);
b. Your registration with the Vogalonga organizers;
c. Joint dinner, briefing and handing out the bow numbers on May 23rd, and;
d. In principle, your hotel accommodation (arrival Friday afternoon, departure Monday morning), including breakfast and tourist tax. You are also welcome to arrange your own accommodation.
3. You will be responsible for your own travel to and from Venice, including food and drinks during your stay and public transportation costs within Venice.
4. As a W3 participant group, you will be responsible for rigging and unrigging the boats, and loading and unloading the boat trailer.

Costs: are not yet known. We’re still gathering information. Please be patient for now.
