KYC Tour – Goud of goudgebruind?

Op zondag 10 september vond de eerste ‘Know Your City’ toer plaats. Deze tocht is speciaal bedacht voor de in regio Amsterdam wonende buitenlandse leden van Willem III. Met (te) prachtig weer en temperaturen ver boven de 30° Celsius werd de toer gevaren.

Iets vertraagd vanwege het volgen van de voor Nederland Gouden Wereldkampioenschappen op het Savameer bij Belgrado, roeide een grote groep roeiers (acht nationaliteiten!) een vanwege de hitte verkorte culturele tocht. Men was goed voorbereid tegen de felle zon, maar keerde goudgebruind terug.

Daarna kon er nog Oekraïens gegeten worden op Willem III met Armeense wijn, om het internationale karakter te benadrukken.

Dank in het bijzonder aan Maaike Rittershaus, organisator pur sang van de toercommissie, en Vesna Vukic voor alle hand en spandiensten tijdens de dag.

KYC Tour – Gold or Golden suntan?

Willem III had its debut of the first Know Your City tour (KYC tour) on Sunday September 10th. The idea behind this is to give all non Dutch members a tour through the city of Amsterdam showing its peculiar spots, landmarks and historical features. This turned out to be a true success. The number of participants, from 8 different nationalities, was equal to the temperature, more than thirty!

The TV in the clubhouse showed the very successful Golden World Championships in Belgrade. We settled for a golden suntan as a result of the KYC tour, which was slightly shortened for reasons of overheating.

The day was ended with a Ukrainian inspired dinner and Armenian wine to underline the international participation. We look back on a great day and like to thank specifically Maaike Rittershaus and Vesna Vukic for their organizational efforts and assistance at all times.
